Accuracy and reliability
Q. How accurate is Fit-4?
A. There are several measures of accuracy of an assessment test, but the most reliable and academically robust measure was developed by Professor Mike Smith of Manchester University (UK) in 1986. This is a measure of how accurately any given test can predict the actual real job performance of an individual in any given role. The performance predictability measure scores tests from 0.0 (equivalent to a flip of a coin) up to 1.0 (perfect prediction) - a completely unattainable level of accuracy. The higher the test score, the more reliable it is. While statisticians disagree about what percentage of people will actually perform well in a job against any given level on the scale, what is generally agreed is that any test that scores below 0.3 is little better than the flip of a coin, and that tests scoring above 0.7 are very unlikely. Ordinary unstructured interviewing (used by 95% of firms today) is 0.15 predictive. Structured interviews and in-tray exercises are 0.35 predictive; Viagra???! is 0.38 predictive of good performance; ability tests and job samples are 0.42 predictive; Fit-4 exceeds 0.5 predictive. Hence, as far as we are aware, Fit-4 is, by quite some margin, the most accurate and predictive test of a sales person’s likely performance in any given sales role available online today.
Roles Available
Q. What Fit-4 Roles are available today?
A. Fit-4 roles are based on groups with shared characteristics. We have two role groups released today (Jan 09) with another group starting release end Q1 09. The two groups available today are the sales group (comprising Transactional Selling, Application Selling and Channel Sales) and the senior sales group (comprising Solution Selling, Strategic Selling and Key Account Management). The group being released at the end of Q1 09 is the sales management group (comprising Channel Manager initially). For descriptions of these roles, please look at our Role Descriptions.
Q. What’s in development and when?
A. Roles in development today (Jan 09) include Channel Manager and Channel sales (due end Q1 09); Sales Manager (due Q2 09) and Sales Leader (due Q4 09). Other developments will be announced during 2H 09.
Q. Fit-4 & Psychometric Testing
A. Many people today use psychometric testing – what makes Fit-4 so different is that psychometric testing firstly offers only one view of an individual (their behavioral preferences) against the four views offered by Fit-4 (Intellect, Behavior, Motivation and Functional Skill). Secondly, with psychometrics the user has the responsibility of interpreting the significance of each behavioral preference, against the needs of the role, for themselves. With Fit-4 the report is pre-interpreted. This ensures that comparisons of one individual against another are more objective with Fit-4, and that all comparisons are made against a common standard - that of a top performer in the selected role.
Q. Languages
A. Fit-4 is currently available in US English and UK English. During 2009 the following languages are scheduled; Spanish (including Castilian & South American); Portuguese (including Brazilian); Italian; German; French; Greek. There is currently no scheduled sequence for release. (Jan 09)
