Inside the Sales Talent Assessment report

The Sales Talent Assessment report is designed to be read ‘at a glance’ with each competency in the report being relevant to the role being assessed.

The ‘Optimal Range’ – or band within which a sales person can be regarded as being ‘suited’ to the role – is shown on the report by a set of horizontal square brackets above the bar charts.

A sales person who is consistently within the Optimal Range is likely to perform well in the specific role they are being assessed for: the higher they are within the range – on a consistent basis – the better they are likely to perform. The centre block of each bracketed area is the High-Performer benchmark level.

Consistency at or above this level across all elements is the key to success. Simply having one area, or one group (eg skills) at or above the benchmark does not mean the individual will perform well. Indeed, this is one of the problems with many other assessments – someone may be behaviourally very good, but lack skills, intellect or motivation – or all three.

A detailed skills report delivers simple and straightforward needs analysis so that personal development planning (ie investment planning) becomes objective, scientific and straightforward. This also enables the development of a simple set of training ROI metrics.

The Sales Talent Assessment report enables a quick, yet accurate evaluation to be made of the following factors:

  • Likely current performance level of each sales person compared with what could reasonably be expected of a global High Performer in the same role.
  • Direct like-for-like comparisons of one sales person to another in the same role. This often highlights the reasons for performance variance within a team.
  • Assessment of likely limits to growth for each sales person – ie how much ‘development headroom’ each individual has. This assists with investment planning decisions.

Any experienced sales professional can make sense of a Sales Talent Assessment report, quickly and easily. Feedback training and phone support is available if required. Please contact SalesAssessment.com for more information.

The Role Report

This report comprises four sections. Each section should be viewed in the context of the findings in the other sections, to provide a rounded view of an individual’s predicted performance capability for any given role:

1 – Behavioral assessment

This shows how likely it is that an individual will be comfortable carrying out the role expected of them.

2 – Ability assessment

This determines whether an individual has the appropriate levels and type of intellectual horse power, or ability, to perform at a global High-Performer level.

3 – Functional Skills assessment

This section shows how well an individual’s current capabilities compare with those of a global High-Performer. Most elements of this section are relatively easily trainable.

4 – Motivational Drivers assessment

This section enables employers to understand how to instil the greatest desire to perform in each individual.

5 – The Functional Skills Report

The Sales Talent Assessment Functional Skills report for managers is delivered as a highly detailed skills analysis designed to be read by managers; it sets out the findings using SalesAssessment.com’s clear, logical presentation.

For team analysis, an optional and highly detailed Sales Team Dashboard is available for a small extra cost (please see sample lower down this page): this offers a detailed view of capabilities and development needs at an individual level and across the team.

The standard Sales Talent Assessment Functional Skills Report is designed to provide an objective guide for line managers or coaches to use to identify critical paths for development.
